“Leave it!” Ianto snapped, spotting Jack’s fingers surreptitiously reaching for the cooling tray of chocolate chip cookies again. “God, how many times do I have to tell you? It’s like trying to train a puppy! No! Bad Jack! Don’t touch! I should take you to obedience classes.”


Jack whined, bringing out the pleading puppy dog eyes along with a pout, and Ianto sighed. It SO wasn’t fair; it was like dealing with a winsome puppy and small child, all in one devastatingly attractive package.


“But Ianto…”


“But nothing, Jack! They’re not for you; they’re for Meriel’s birthday party tomorrow, remember? You wouldn’t want your daughter or any of her little friends to be disappointed, would you?”


“No, of course not! But shouldn’t someone sample them to check the quality?”


Ianto froze, giving Jack the patented Ianto Jones Death Glare. “Are you intimating that my baking might be substandard?”


Jack looked properly horrified. “Perish the thought! Your baking is always of the highest quality!”


“Then why, pray tell, would you think a quality check might be required?”


“Um…” Jack shuffled his feet; he had no answer for that.


“Maybe you should leave the kitchen while I finish my baking.”


Jack left.
