“Hah!” Dee’s grin was almost savage as he glanced sidelong at his partner, keeping pace beside him. “We’ve got him now!”

 
He and Ryo had been chasing the suspect for at least half a mile already, probably more, twisting and turning through the sideroads and alleyways that constituted this part of the city, but now Dee was sensing victory.

 
“We haven’t got him yet,” Ryo warned. “He’s fit, he could still outrun us.”
 

“Not the way he’s goin’. Idiot’s trapped himself, that alley’s a dead end. The only way out is the same way he went in, and if he tries that, he’s gotta go right past us!”

 
Side by side, they swung into the alley, raced past a row of dumpsters and around a sharp turn, just in time to see their quarry vanishing over the fifteen-foot wall at the alley’s end. Dee skidded to a halt.

 
“What the…”

 
“What was that you were saying about him being trapped?” Ryo asked, halting just behind his partner.
 

“We should’a had him!” Dee glared up at the wall.
 

“That’s what you get for being overconfident.”

 
“Hey, don’t go blamin’ me! How was I supposed to know we were chasin’ frickin’ Spiderman?”
