“Did you hear that Commissioner Rose is campaigning to be our local candidate in the next election?” Ryo said, setting two mugs of coffee on the kitchen table. “I heard it on the radio while you were downstairs fetching the paper.”
“Yeah, I know.” Dee held up the morning paper, showing his lover the front page. “Kinda hard to miss. He probably paid the paper extra for a frontpage spot. Can’t even enjoy my breakfast now without the slimy bastard starin’ at me.”
“Dee,” Ryo chided. “From what I’ve heard so far, he makes some good points in his favor.”
“Campaign promises, just like every other politician that ever existed. If he gets elected, all his promises will be forgotten, just like that.” Dee snapped his fingers. “You’re not seriously considerin’ votin’ for him, are ya?”
“Well, no, not yet. I’m keeping my options open, at least until I get a better idea of what the various candidates’ priorities are. It’s important to make an informed decision.”
“Yeah, I guess, but… It’s Rose!”
“I know you don’t like him, but in the end the only thing that will matter is whether or not he’s the best of the available candidates.”
