In the SUV, with Rhiannon gone wherever it was she was heading, Ianto fluttered off Jack’s shoulder onto the headrest, then into the back seat where his clothes were neatly folded. Changing back into his human form took very little effort now; he gave a sort of full-bodied shrug, his outline shimmered and grew, and then there was a human instead of a crow crouched on the blanket spread across the leather upholstery to protect it from bird claws.


He started dressing. “Well, that was unexpected.”


“You’re telling me. Any idea what your sister’s doing in Cardiff?”


“How should I know? Probably something to do with David’s birthday though, judging by the bags she was carrying. Thanks for not giving the game away.”


“I didn’t think you’d be too pleased if I outed you as a were-crow to your sister in public. I meant what I said though; you’re invaluable to Torchwood, and to me, in either form.”


“That’s nice to know, and your discretion was much appreciated.”


“Are you going to tell her? I mean, eventually?”


“Don’t know. I mean she’s only just discovered I’m working for Torchwood and living with my male boss. Another shock might finish her.”
